Let's recap, shall we? This is what the table looked like when I picked it up.
BEFORE
AFTER
So the low down on what I did. First, let me say that I am NOT an expert. There is no science to what I do, how I mix my paint, or any type of consistency in my techniques. I believe in making mistakes and learning from them and experimenting with things to find out what works for you.
Back to what I did....I mixed my chalk paint (1 cup latex paint and 1/4 cup baking soda) and painted the table. I mixed the color Sun Seeker by Valspar with a brown glaze to get this particular shade of blue. The table just wasn't doin' it for me. Something was missing and I wasn't sure what it was. I was painting another piece of furniture in a cream color and figured I would see how it looked with the blue. I just dry brushed a little on and I liked it. Like a mad woman I dry brushed the rest of the table.
When you paint with chalk paint the texture it leaves is rough and once you sand it feels like silk. That's one of the things I like about chalk paint, you can just rub your hand over the paint to see if you have missed a spot.
I used 220 grit sand paper to sand and I coated it with two coats of wax to seal the paint.
Overall, I like how the table turned out. As usual, here is the before and after side by side (I hate having to scroll up and down really fast trying to see both pictures at once)!

PS. Trick to spray paint is purchase one of the inexpensive spray can grip or handle. It helps deliver a broader, more even spray.
