I have only used my homemade chalk paint on dressers and side tables and I haven't haven't any problems. I would recommend trying it on a small piece of furniture first to see if you like the look. It has a chalk, distressed matte look to it and I'm not sure if you want your cabinets to look that way.
I always use wax to seal mine but I literally rub in on and then wipe it off within a minute or two. Good Luck!Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04246510312476569597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384234506675282157.post-32715232076773434042012-06-21T13:25:35.325-05:002012-06-21T13:25:35.325-05:00I was wondering about the durability of the homema...I was wondering about the durability of the homemade chalk paint. The real thing is so expensive but I have heard it works great for kitchen remodels because it paints cabinets so well. Have you used it in a high traffic area and, if so, would you suggest sealing it in some way? I really, really want to paint my cabinets!Shawnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18218482589274504320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-384234506675282157.post-25248072626166717842012-04-17T13:52:36.112-05:002012-04-17T13:52:36.112-05:00Thank you! If you see a picture you like online you click "pin it" which will be on your toolbar and select which board to but it on. Or you can click on my Pinterest tab (which is on the top right of my blog) and you can find it there and repin it. I have it pinned under white furniure. I found the baking soda recipe and ran with it!! If you do make it and it's too thick then add a little water. If you think it is too watery then add more baking soda. Like I said...SUPER EASY and you can't mess it up!
I don't have a sprayer so and I can't say for sure if it would work or not. I know I saw on someone's blog that they used a sprayer with homemade chalk paint. If I can recall the blog I will let you know.
You are SO not lazy. My hands have been killing me lately, like making a fist really hurts, and I blame having to use brushes and rollers!!
