My client was looking for a new entertainment center but she needed something tall. We found this dresser on Craigslist and painted it the same color as the Red Dresser I did a few months back. This color was a hit with buyers and I have had a lot of requests for it.
She wanted to keep everything hidden so we didn't remove any drawers for open shelving. She will house the electronics inside the doors.
Okay, if you are a hardcore antique lover you might just want to move on. If you aren't and you love to see old furniture updated then please carry on.
BEFORE
AFTER
She picked some great clear bevelled knobs from Hobby Lobby.
I love the brass key holes!
Any time the camera comes out this cat thinks it's a photo shoot just for her.
every.single.time!
The inside of the drawers were...well, there are really no words for the inside of the drawers.
There was green AstroTurf looking fabric that was glued down....IT WAS AWFUL!
I pulled it all out and lined the drawers and the inside of each cabinet with a camel colored microfiber fabric.
They look so much better.
I also drilled a hole in the back of each cabinet for cords and ventilation.

I did very little distressing. Just a little around the corners of the drawers and little bit on the feet. I sealed it with two coats to Minwax Finishing Paste.
The top picture is a little pink and isn't the exact color. The side view of the dresser is the truest in color. This color, Rose Dust, changes so much depending on the natural light in the room.
I hope Brandi loves her new entertainment center! It's such a bold statement piece and who doesn't love a bold piece of furniture?

I love the way this turned out! The beveled knobs really stand out against that red. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think it came out pretty great. It's so bold and bright.
Deletelove it, the color is fantastic and the piece looks amazing,
ReplyDeletelauren
Thanks Lauren, it's the same color as the one you featured in your top 25 dressers. Having it all the same color without a natural top makes it look a little different. I love this color!
DeleteThis is one of those pieces that I think looked great before and after.
ReplyDeleteBliss
I agree! This piece is huge too and has so much character. Thanks for stopping by. When you get your $10 million check in can you lend me some? : )
DeleteI love this piece either way but the color that was chosen is fantastic. I also, like the knobs.

ReplyDeleteHi Helen,
ReplyDeleteI0m visiting from French Country Cottage to admire your beautiful clawfoot dresser. You really did an amazing job with your paint transformation and I'm totally in love with the color. Bravo!

Rita, thank you so much for your sweet words and for taking the time to stop by.
DeleteYou do good work- But this dresser looked much better before. The wood was beautiful in itself.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your opinion. My job is to paint old furniture for my clients. On my blog, most of what you will see is old furniture which is painted. If you do not like seeing old antique furniture painted then you are visiting the wrong blog!
DeleteFYI- the green felt in the drawer was used for storage/protection for ones good silver.
ReplyDeletevery cool! i think this is the first painted piece with claw feet i have seen (other than a bathtub)!

That was a gorgeous piece even before you re-did it. What gorgeous lines and style and the legs are exquisite. Love, love it, the color you chose is so pretty, amazing how much that color will go with others. What a fantastic entertainment center. If your client doesn't love it, well I'll take it.
